We spent most of Tuesday walking the streets of Mendoza. The streets are all tree lined so it is much cooler to walk than buenos aires. Like buenos aires it has a very Parisian feel to it with many parks and outdoor cafés. When we sat at a cafe at noon there was an American woman ( Guess Who reference) . She and her husband had been living in Mendoza for the last three years. He was a mining engineer and she was an ex sped teacher. She gave us lots of useful information and took us to a local market to have the experience. We are now Facebook friends. We walk through more of the city and made our reservation to take the bus to Santiago Chile on Sunday. We rented a car that came right to our hotel and we headed out of the city to go to San Raphael. As Scout, I was able to get us out of the city and onto the route with only a few misdirections. The ride was about 2 and a half hours and we arrived at our very quaint hotel about 8:30.
Our car is a standard.
"Do you know how to find reverse?" "Yes just push down and slide to the left" "it's not working" "when was the last time you drove a standard?" "High school" "try again " "it's still not working" " let me try.........it's still not working" "this is a problem" "let's get somebody" ............"pardon Senior. Que tango la automobile ala reversio?" .............."pull the reverse lever up..." Gracias senior"
